Tending the Landscape : Pilates and East Asian Medicine

It’s been a full four months in the new Lafayette location.

The second Pilates machine finally arrived mid-March, and has been a fun new addition to the space. It has a vertical frame, cardio-tramp, platform extender, and lot of expansive capabilities.

The biomat has also been adding great therapeutic benefit to the acupuncture sessions with its far-infrared and negative ion properties - supporting the microcirculation of the tissues in treatment.

With Earth Day last month, I have been reflecting on how the way we care for and interact with our bodies is intimately connected to the way we care for and interact with our earth.

In Chinese medicine, our bodies are understood as their own unique landscape, ecosystem, terrain.

Arteries, veins and capillaries are often described as rivers and streams which nourish the bodies tissues; our detox channels analogous to the drainage system of fields.

In this paradigm, how we care and tend to a landscape, is the same way we care for and tend to the body.

Love, Kelly
